What is the Year 10 Thrive Program?
This is a program designed for students in year 10. The purpose of the Year 10 Thrive Program is to provide year 10 students with an engaging and applied learning curriculum to give them the best chance to leave the Berry Street School with a fully completed certificate and skills to successfully enter the work force, training or further education.
The Year 10 Thrive Program is also about acceleration for students’ futures, which therefore provides a more in-depth opportunity for career development and lifelong learning.
Who would benefit from the Year 10 Thrive Program?
Students who:
- Are interested in undertaking Vocational Education and Training (VET) or Structured Workplace Learning
- Attend regularly
- Are interested in Work Related Skills or Personal Development Skills
- Students that would like to accelerate their learning
How are students selected for the Year 10 Thrive Program?
At the Berry Street School, we value student voice and agency. If a student is interested in the Year 10 Thrive Program, we encourage them to speak to their Lead Teacher and Assistant Principal (Head of Campus). Generally, students will be recommended for the Year 10 Thrive Program by the people that know them best, their families and school staff. Year 10 Thrive Program curriculum outline
The Year 10 Thrive Program is a flexible program that is underpinned by applied learning principles. There are four options to meet students’ interest and needs. The Year 10 Thrive Program is a mix of the Victorian Curriculum and either the Victorian Pathways Certificate, Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major and/or VET. The running of the Year 10 Thrive Program is dependent on the resources at the campus.
