In preparation for NAIDOC Week in 2019, the Ballarat campus invited a representative from the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Corporation to speak to all our students. Peter Shane Rotumah, a Gunditjmara man, visited and gave an engaging talk with students.

He explained the purpose of a range of artefacts and shared a map about the huge number of Aboriginal dialects which existed only in Victoria. He showed a stone axe which was around 15,000 years old. He also talked about Aboriginal settlements and fish traps in the Budj Bim cultural landscape of south western Victoria.

Students really enjoyed the talk, particularly Kiara who is also a Gunditjmara young person. Thanks to Peter for coming to speak to our students and helping us to celebrate NAIDOC week.
